All social media companies are enhancing their ad tools by making it easier for small businesses to attract audiences. Their objective is to offer generative AI tools that make it easier for them to create ads and save money thus these tools will increase their marketing budget on their platforms.
When this AI boom started I assumed this would reduce Meta’s strength in this space, but as this cycle develops it will only reinforces it. Meta’s usage of AI in its recommendation algoritms has increased their revenue even with Apple’s restrictions.
Why it matters?
Social Media has become dominant in how people consume news and interact with the world. As they use the large language models to enhance current features it will make their apps more addictive.

The recent boom of generative AI has increased the number of AI influencers. Most people follow AI influencers out of curiosity about the technology, and some state they follow them to escape reality. Moreover, AI influencers are not immune to problems that imply to influencers such as misinformation, creating extreme and utterly unattainable beauty standards.
Why it matters:
Not every business has the funds to hire social media personalities, hence losing significant opportunities. This also helps people who desire a social media presence, but still prefer privacy and may shy in front of the camera. This may ultimately hurt society since it will increase disengagement with others.
